Popular open-source BitTorrent client – and default Ubuntu torrent app – Transmission has updated to version 2.0.

This latest release sees several bugs fixed and a handful of new features including: -
- Local peer Discovery
- Optimized Download request based on available bandwidth
- better handling of tracker 404 errors
- intelligent decisions on peer connections
- New GTK filter bar
- New compact view
- Ability to move multiple torrents at the same time
- Netbook-friendly Properties screen

Transmission 2.0 won’t be updated in the Ubuntu repositories until Maverick so Lucid users wishing to upgrade will need to do so using the Transmission PPA: -
- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:transmissionbt/beta
- sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
