It’s time for a round up of the newest (and neatest) themes made for Linux desktop album art n’ controller app CoverGloobus — at least, the ones I’ve stumbled upon over the past few weeks.
Banner
I’ll start with a dozy: Banner.
The creation of sir-nimaj over on DeviantArt, banner is as minimal as heck, displaying just album cover art and basic player control buttons. Is that a negative? Heck no! The 3D perspective with drop shadows affects a super-stylish look.

eDark Covergloobus
This theme has it all: star ratings, player controls, artist and track info, album art, progress bar, and lashings of style. It’s sleek, modern and tactile. The inner shadow around the track info area, and the bevelled progress bar are superbly executed.
Does it look a bit like the old iTunes mini-player? Yes, and Linux-purists may deride it on that basis. For most, it will be a non-issue since it’s not iTunes, and it’s not 1:1 clone: inspired, if anything.

BTX
DeviantArt user ~g0rg0d has created something epic here. I love BTX for two reasons. First, it dares to use a unique shape compared to most themes. Secondly, it chooses NOT to display cover art. Like, at all. Given CoverGloobus has cover in its name, that’s daring!
This theme does use scrolling text for track info (only if the text is too long), and it can be resized without causing too much pixelation to the asset graphics — if you’re using the latest CoverGloobus, that is.

Smaller screen with titles
On a small screen, or just like discrete things? The ‘Smaller Screen with Titles’ CoverGloobus theme by Rafeviper is just the ticket:
This minuscule CoverGloobus theme now offers track info support, showing track title, album, and artist name in a small pod beneath the main frame.

Faenzoobus.2
Self promotion alert: I made my own CoverGloobus theme a while back, inspired by the popular Linux icon set Faenza. I recently circled back to it, and added scrollbar support plus a new play/pause button to better match the aesthetic.
