Further to the post that sits below this one on the main page – the one in which we take a look at new features in desktop cover art and media controller app CoverGloobus – comes news that the first release candidate of the new version has bee added to a PPA for easy installation!
Naturally, as it is a development PPA, it is not recommended for users of a nervous disposition, those with a desktop beholden to government secrets, or anything else of critical value.
This PPA only provides packages for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, so if you have yet to upgrade to ‘lucid lynx’, consider it a proverbial carrot to tempt you into doing so – or a stick, if you’ve since upgrade to 10.10…
To add the CoverGloobus dev PPA pop open a new Terminal window and run the following two commands, inputting your user password when prompted:
- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gloobus-dev/covergloobus
- sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install covergloobus
If you are using Ubuntu 10.10 ‘Maverick Meerkat’, don’t look forlorn: just download the DEB from the PPA page directly as though they’re made for Ubuntu 10.04 they work just fine in 10.10:
