Have you been patiently waiting for further information on that cheap and cheerful (if not hugely powerful) $89 Linux ARM laptop we mentioned last year?
At the time of our article we shared the specifications of the notebooks, their price, and their potential performace.
But that aside we didn’t know anything else, like when the device might actually go on sale.
Well, now we do.
Pinebook Release Date, Other Info
Nick Schaer over at gamehelp.guru eked a little extra information out of the single-board folks at Pine64, the company making the device.
Pine64 told him that the Pinebook (presumably in both its 11.6-inch IPS LCD and 14-inch IPS LCD guises) will be released “middle to late February”.
Pricing is, as before: $89 for the 11.6-inch model, and $99 for the 14.1-inch model. There’s are no differences other than trackpad and screen size differences both models of the Pinebook are built around one of the company’s crowdfunded single-board computer, the Pine A64:

Shipping from China
The Pinebook is being manufactured in China, which is where the company is based. It’s from here that the device will ship out from. This means the $89 price tag for the 11-inch model may not be as little once you add on shipping and any other fees.
A limited 90 day warranty is included
Although the OS the device will ship with is yet to be finalised — might wanna get a move on, eh? — it’s clear that this device could be cheap enough to emerge as something of a Linux hobbies or tinkerers dream portable.
