If you use OpenOffice you may have noticed the rather frustrating start-up times each time you launch it.

I came across this nifty tweak today which speeds up the length of time it takes for OpenOffice to launch.

  1. Open up System, Preferences, Startup Applications and click ‘add’ to add a new entry.
  2. In the Command field, type openoffice –nodefault –nologo
  3. Close and reboot.

Starting any OpenOffice.org application in the future will now happen in an almost instant fashion.
