Installing software on Ubuntu just become way more fun, as the Linux Deepin Software Center is now available to install on Ubuntu 11.10.

“The Linux-what-what?”, you ask?

Honestly, of all the many attempts at creating an all-in-one Linux software store we’ve seen, the one is the best — and but one gem that glistens in the crown of the super-slick Ubuntu-based Chinese Linux distribution ‘Linux Deepin’, which is royally good.

The Deepen Software Center sports a clean layout, low-resource usage, and integrates package management features not present in Ubuntu Software Centre.

Hit play on this video I made to see the app in action, what it can do, how it does it, etc as pictures don’t do it justice:

Deepin Software Center is slick

Until now, Ubuntu users who wanted to use Deepin’s software hub had to do so by building it from source code in order to avoid conflicting with Ubuntu Software Center. That issue—which was weird in the first place—has now been resolved.

Deepin has made a DEB installer available to download, giving us an easy and fuss-free way to try an engaging alternative way to discover, install and manage apps on Ubuntu — without switching distro.
