Dell XPS 13 7390

The Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition laptop stands out at the forefront of Linux laptops.

It’s powerful, it’s sexy, and it’s got class.

And today it just got even better.

Dell has announced that it will pre-load Ubuntu on more variations in the Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition line in the United States.

While this might be a British blog — you did notice the .co.uk and dour tone, right? — a sizeable chunk of omg! readers sit stateside, making this news well worth covering.

Underlining just how big of a bump this is — 8x, fact fans — is Dell’s Barton George, who explains in a blog post:

“We are excited to announce that we are increasing the number of configuations (sic) in the developer edition portfolio by a factor of eight,” he writes.

”In total, we now offer 18 different configurations of the 9th generation developer edition, 16 of which are available both online and offline.”

All of the new configurations come with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and Intel 10th generation Core U series processors as standard, including 6-core Intel i7.

Alongside the US expansion Dell says it’s making more configurations available with Ubuntu in both Canada and Europe too (though not quite as many as the US).

Sound good? You can learn more details on this effort by reading Barton George’s blog post.
