Vivaldi web browser is now available for Raspberry Pi and other ARM-based development boards
The customization-centered Chromium fork is making ‘experimental’ ARM builds available to download from its website as of today.
Will its arrival find favour with fans of the dinky development board?
Vivaldi certainly thinks so.
They tout their mix of power-user features and fine-grained controls as a combination that should help deliver a faster browsing experience for users on low-power devices like the Raspberry Pi.
Vivaldi, for those who don’t know, is a Chromium-based web-browser created by Jon von Tetzchner, better known as the founder of Opera.
“Vivaldi is a web surfer’s complete toolbox that you can personalize and make your own. We strive to add more flexibility for the thriving culture of computer hobbyists and hope that every owner of Raspberry Pi will have fun using Vivaldi,” Tetzchner explains.
Although the arrival of a niche browser on a niche device won’t upend computing habits as we know them. But the release of Vivaldi for Raspberry Pi does serve up a juicy slice of choice to those advocates of Linux on ARM.
