Lenovo Thinkpad 25 Anniversary EditionThe Lenovo ThinkPad 25th Anniversary Edition has been officially unveiled — and it seems last month’s leak was spot on.

Lenovo chose to unwrap the limited-edition anniversary version of its most famous laptop on the ThinkPad’s 25th birthday

The design of the “ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25” (that’s the official name) is inspired by the design of earlier models in the laptop’s long line, with notable nods in the 7-row keyboard, blue colored enter key, tall escape key, and a centre-aligned power button.

More than 130 million ThinkPad’s have been sold since 1992.

But although superficially retro the internals of this premium notebook are bang up-to-date.

The ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 is powered by an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX, backlit keyboard and a 14-inch HD touch screen display.

Lenovo is keeping tight-lipped about other specs, but last month’s leak suggests it’ll ship with a large SSD, up to 16GB RAM, and have a USB-C port among the standard set of ports and output options (SD card, ethernet, HDMI, etc).

Price & Availability

The ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 will be available to buy in select countries in limited quantities, priced from $1899, some time soon.

Sadly it won’t be available with Linux. Despite the ThinkPad line (in its various guises) being hugely popular with Linux developers this limited edition model will only be available to purchase with Windows 10 pre-loaded.

Testament to the legacy of the ThinkPad, I’m in a coffee shop writing this post and there’s a university student just a few metres away who is using one.
