A new version of Battery Monitor, a background battery monitoring tool for Ubuntu, is available to download.
The tool is designed for those who want to see notification alerts about battery status besides “battery low” and “battery critically low”.
When running, Battery Monitor is able to show desktop alerts for different battery status events, including ‘now charging’ and ‘battery not charing’ (like macOS does).
In v0.5 the app also introduces a new settings window to let you create and tailor custom battery notifications at your own chosen intervals.
So, if you want to see an alert when you hit, for example, 37% battery, you can; if you’d rather see critically low warnings sooner, you can tweak that too.
The app’s Github page explains: “search for Battery Monitor GUI in your menu entries. Then click on it and you will see a new window. Now adjust your settings and save it. Your adjustment will be in action after next reboot.”

The latest version of Battery Monitor also reduces resource consumption so that it’s not chowing down your battery while staring at it. The tool also now supports Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, 16.04 LTS, 16.10 and 17.04, too.
