Meet the Entroware Aether, the latest Linux laptop from British-based computer company Entroware.
The Entroware Aether sports a sizeable 15.6-inch screen and is powered by Intel’s latest generation “Kaby Lake” processors, which Entroware say helps the device deliver decent performance as well as energy efficiency.
A choice of three Kaby Lake processors are available. Buyers can pick between models sporting a dual-core Intel Core i3-7100U @ 2.4GHz; a dual-core Intel Core i5-7200U@ 2.50GHz or a dual-core Intel Core i7-7500U @ 2.70 GHz.
The 15.6-inch display is available in HD (1366×768) and Full HD (IPS, 1920×1080) options.
The Entroware Aether laptop can also be kitted out with up to 32GB DDR4 RAM (4GB in the base config) and (if you want one) an optional blazing fast M2 SSD on which the base OS is installed. There’s even room for a DVD drive (included by default)
An ample array of ports allow for great expansion and connectivity. There is both full-sized VGA and HDMI ports; SD card slot; 1x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0 and 1x USB Type-C ports. For connectivity there’s integrated Intel AC Wi-Fi and Blutooth, plus a Gigabit ethernet port.
You also get an integrated 720p HD Webcam, internal mic and left/right speakers.
With the company now shipping to Germany, France and Spain the Entroware Aether can (quite rightly) be configured with a locale-specific backlit keyboard, and your choice of Windows key logo (Ubuntu, Entroware, MATE or Windows).
Finally, as is the case with all Entroware devices, you get to choose which version of Ubuntu ships pre-loaded: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS, Ubuntu 16.10 or Ubuntu MATE 16.04.2 LTS or Ubuntu MATE 16.10.
