tileUbuntu’s extended family has pushed out their second beta releases of the Ubuntu 14.04 development cycle.

Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Kubuntu and Ubuntu GNOME are among those taking part in this milestone, which also sees the regular version of Ubuntu post its sole beta.

The latest crop of testing images come less than a month before their scheduled stable releases, due on April 17.

The changes between the previous beta and this one are minor for the most part, with the bulk of those flavours taking part having debuted new features in their previous releases. That said, the latest betas of Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME and Xubuntu all sport a bunch of new bug fixes and stability improvements, if few user-facing changes.

For more details on new features and changes take a look back at our article on the first beta.

Kubuntu 14.04 Beta 2 does have more to see. In adding the KDE Applications 4.13 Beta 3 there are a host of improvements throughout its various application stacks. Elsewhere, work has continued on refining the Muon Software Centre, delivering some much needed stability to a promising app.

All spins come with the latest version of Firefox, version 28, and the general under-the-bonnet improvements and hardware support being based on Ubuntu offers.
