Australia’s largest mobile network Telstra is the latest member of Canonical’s Carrier Advisory Group to be announced.

The company boasts 13.8 Million1 subscribers in Australia – nearly 4 million more than its main rival Optus.

CAG partners get early information from Canonical on launch and product plans, as well as the opportunity to interact and discuss development of the OS before it hits phones.

Telstra, who also provide enterprise and business contracts as we consumer coverage, said of their membership:

“At Telstra we are always looking to provide our customers with choice.  This includes looking into new technology and mobile operating systems currently being developed. We are excited to be a part of the Carrier Advisory Group and are looking forwarded to working with Ubuntu.”

Membership of the discussion forum closes at the end of July.

Other networks involved in the CAG include Verizon (USA), China Unicom (China) & Smartfren (Indonesia).
