Daily builds of Ubuntu 13.04 – due for release in April 2013 – have today gone live for download.

With Ubuntu 13.04 dropping alpha releases, the daily builds will be will be the only way to get the release before the first beta lands in mid-March.

For now you don’t need to worry about them. Their availability is – for most of us – symbolic rather than necessary. There is little need to upgrade from Ubuntu 12.10 just yet.

Nor will you find anything particularly special to see or play with if you do, though there are a raft of updated packages in various states of preparedness.

But for Ubuntu developers and app makers, as well as the Ubuntu aficionados, the release of daily builds signifies the day when the new development cycle officially kicks into gear.
