[How to] Help Spread ‘Download for Ubuntu’ App Buttons

So many great applications are available in the Ubuntu Software Center - but many developers don't advertise this fact on their websites. To remedy this Ubuntu's Jono Bacon is encouraging users to get involved in a new ‘Download for Ubuntu’ Button Campaign. The premise is simple: the websites of apps that are available to install through the Ubuntu Software Center should display a uniform 'Download for Ubuntu' button so that visitors can clearly see they support Ubuntu.

Fanless Linux Mint PC Goes on Sale

We shared word of Linux Mint's new PC, the 'MintBox', with you a few weeks back. Today the product has been officially announced. Two models of the MintBox are available: a basic version with less RAM and a slower CPU/GPU combo, and a faster 'Pro' model in a stylised case. The Ubuntu-based spin have been working with computer manufacturer CompuLab since late last year to bring Linux Mint to market on a range of energy efficient and fanless devices.

Microsoft, Canonical Bring Ubuntu to Windows Azure

Microsoft is to offer the ability to easily install and run Ubuntu and other Linux OSes on its Windows Azure cloud computing platform. The move will help Microsoft gain leverage against other cloud service rivals, such as Amazon who already allow for the easy deployment of Linux and Windows.
