A new release of open-source Evernote ‘clone’ ‘NixNote’ has been made available for download.

NixNote, formerly known as ‘Nevernote’, provides Evernote Linux users with a dedicated desktop client.

Alongside a bunch of bug fixes in Nixnote 1.1 come a handful of minor new features.

These include: –

  • File attachments of up to 25Mb can be saved by all users (50Mb for Evernote premium users)
  • Support for wildcard searches (disabled by default)
  • Ability to ‘pin’ notes
  • Notebook specific sorting
  • Basic support for importing Evernote export files (text only at present)

Download

Easily installable .deb packages of Nixnote 1.1 can be download from the project page @ sourceforge.net/projects/nevernote/files/Current/

A PPA providing packages for Ubuntu 10.04 through 11.10 users is also available by adding ppa:vincent-c/nevernote to your Software Sources, updating and then installing ‘Nixnote’ from the Ubuntu Software Centre.
