A new release of open-source Evernote ‘clone’ ‘NixNote’ has been made available for download.
NixNote, formerly known as ‘Nevernote’, provides Evernote Linux users with a dedicated desktop client.
Alongside a bunch of bug fixes in Nixnote 1.1 come a handful of minor new features.
These include: –
- File attachments of up to 25Mb can be saved by all users (50Mb for Evernote premium users)
- Support for wildcard searches (disabled by default)
- Ability to ‘pin’ notes
- Notebook specific sorting
- Basic support for importing Evernote export files (text only at present)

A PPA providing packages for Ubuntu 10.04 through 11.10 users is also available by adding ppa:vincent-c/nevernote to your Software Sources, updating and then installing ‘Nixnote’ from the Ubuntu Software Centre.
