Sergey “Shnatsel” Davidoff has revived his ‘old school gnome-menu-like Dash’ for Ubuntu.
The project, which we first wrote about back in March of this year, replaces the stock Unity Dash with a traditional ‘GNOME Menu’ style layout based on categories.
Of the revived project Shnatsel says: –
“I’ve just changed one hard-coded values to the others again, nothing too fancy really. Would be cool if somebody makes a real menu of it.”

A PPA containing the Dash hack for Ubuntu 11.04 can be found at code.launchpad.net/~shnatsel/archive/unity.
Users are not advised to add the PPA unless they feel confident enough in reverting any changes or correcting issues that arise from using the PPA.
