The Ubuntu Unity Launcher extension for Thunderbird is now available for x64 bit Ubuntu users.

The extension was originally only available to x32 bit Natty users. Not so anymore: if you’re able to run Thunderbird 3.3 or higher (be it on 32bit, 64 bit, ARM, etc) then you are able to benefit from the neat Unity integration the extension provides.

Download the extension can @ addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/unity-launcher-integration/

Need Thunderbird 3.3? It can be installed via the Mozilla Daily PPA. Either add ‘ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa’ to your Software Sources via the Ubuntu Software Centre.

Alternatively open a Terminal (Application Lens > Accessories > Terminal) and run: –

  • sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa
  • sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
