Ubuntu 11.04 users can free up some screen space and gain desktop consistency in LibreOffice by enabling LibreOffice Global Menu support.

Isn’t this there by default?

No. The extension, the work of Alberto Ruiz, is available to install in 11.04 but is not enabled – or installed – by default.

That’s not the be-all and end-all however as enabling it requires is the installation of one singular package: lo-menubar, a LibreOffice extension that “…send[s] the menubar structure through DBusMenu.”

lo-menubar can be found in the Ubuntu Software Centre or installed by clicking on the apt-url below.
