As the fresh air of Spring approaches my hemisphere it seems many Linux distros are keen to keep in sync with the fauna and flora around me by birthing themselves some new releases.

As I’m a busy chap with unnatural quantities of coffee to brew here is a quick pow-pow over-view of what’s blooming in Distro land….

Bodhi RC2

The second release candidate of the incredibly lightweight enlightenment based distribution ‘Bodhi’ is available for testing.

Amongst the new features/update/changes in RC 2 are: –

  • Updated GTK theme
  • Changed icon set to ReMiX
  • Updated LXDM theme
  • Updated plymouth themes
  • Added theme selection page to startup wizard

The Bodhi Linux art site is now online for users to grab themes, icons packs, animated wallpapers, and more.

PC-BSD 8.2

Everyone’s favourite BSD flavour ‘PC-BSD’ – a user orientated build of FreeBSD – sees release of its latest stable version ‘8.2 Hubble Edition’.

Changes and feature present include: –

  • KDE 4.5.5
  • Uses FreeBSD 8.2
  • Updated display wizard
  • Wireless / network manager fixes

Linux Mint 10 KDE

The Ubuntu-based distro ‘Linux Mint’ pushed out a new KDE edition last week.

Based on KDE 4.6 the release adds numerous fixes and improvements. Including an enhanced and slightly re-jigged Software manager; improved Update manager and notable other system changes. The latest release of Adobe Flash is also included.
