Ubuntu 10.10 users will be able to rate and review applications within the Ubuntu Software Center come February, according the official wiki page timeline for the project.

The update is likely designed to allow ratings the chance to accrue ahead of April’s release of Ubuntu 11.04.

Ratings highly rated

Ratings and reviews have been a long awaited feature in the software centre. Designed to better help users locate quality software quickly, without the need to wade blindly through a sea of similarly-purposed applications, they are vital component of any content distribution system vying to be easily navigable.

A development version sporting feedback features had previously been announced for release in December 2010.
