Volume in Ubuntu; always one of the first things I hammer my keyboard volume keys to reduce after a fresh install. It’s so loud!

Notify OSD, also know as Ubuntu’s pretty pop-up bubbles, helpfully appear the second I hit my volume keys, allowing me the chance to gauge the level of audial change without the need to open the Sound Menu itself

However, when one use the mouse scroll wheel to adjust the volume level up or down no on-screen feedback is given at all (bar the non-accurate volume meter icon).

Well folks, I say ‘is’ but I really mean ‘wasn’t.’

Marco Trevisan has cooked up this very feature, and has now proposed the change for inclusion in the sound indicator. This small but important change could soon be coming to a desktop near you!
