KDE 4.6 has been released today, bringing with it five months worth of updates, fixes and changes.
Notable changes present in the Plasma workspaces include a redesigned Activities system, retooled power management system, panel clock tweaks and improvements to the speed of Kwin – KDE’s fancy compositing and window manager.
Applications in reciept of updates include image-viewer Gwenview, which adds social sharing support; the KDE games selection gets a handful of new features; map software Marble is now faster than ever thanks to improved OpenGL work; and faceted browsing comes to Dolphin – KDE’s default file manager.
Also present in the release is a rewritten Oxygen GTK theme able to better integrate non-native applications into the KDE desktop.
Kubuntu 10.10 users eager to upgrade can do so using the Kubuntu backports PPA.
