A new release of virtual light-table and darkroom application Darktable is available for download.
The tool, aimed at photographers, allows comprehensive management of ‘…digital negatives in a database [that] lets you view them through a zoomable light-table.’
So what’s new?
- Metadata is now stored using XMP
- Darkroom plug-ins are now sorted into ‘basic’, ‘correct’, ‘colour’ and ‘effect’ groupings
- Four new darkroom plug-ins: zone system, relight, graduated neutral density & watermark
- Ability to recrop an image without resetting the whole plug-in using ‘Backspace’ button
- Initial inclusion of a Preferences window
- First release of Darkroom user manual

DarkTable is available for easy installation in Ubuntu using the official PPA:
- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release
- sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install darktable
