If you thought multi-touch merriment was the sole preserve of those with vowel-prefixed devices then think again.

Canonical’s Gerry Carr has posted a neat video demonstration of Ubuntu 10.10’s new multi-touch features in action with the Ubuntu Unity interface.

The video shows off both Unity and uTouch to an impressive degree; the multi-touch gestures in particular are responsive, breathtaking.

Whilst the dearth of touch-enabled devices available to mainstream consumers has somewhat tempered the glory the uTouch team deserve to be basking in right now, Gerry’s video demonstrates that whilst touchscreens-en-masse might not be there just yet, the tech most certainly is.
