The addition of a ‘sent from Ubuntu’ signature on mail sent from Ubuntu’s default mail client Evolution in Ubuntu 10.10 has been nixed, with Ubuntu’s Rick Spencer ensuring that the text is switched off by default for all new accounts.

The intention had provoked much derision amongst users of both the application and Ubuntu in general, with a staggering  75.63% ( 1,195 votes) of OMG! Ubuntu! readers signalling their disapproval of it in our snap-poll.

The move to switch it off so quickly after users reacted should help to once again demonstrate that the disconnect between users and developers is not as large as people would like to believe;  the oft-assumed aloof Ubuntu developers not only listen to users concerns, but act on them too.
