GUI for switching between GPU power settingsThe latest version of UCC – a third-party Ubuntu Control Centre – has been been released.

The update sees the usual smattering of bug fixes, stability refinements but, for feature fans, a notable new addition too…

A new VGA switching element lets users switch between low performance graphics and high performance graphics using the ‘vga-switchero’ module present in the Linux kernel 2.6.35.

This feature will be a massive boon to netbook and notebook users for whom every drop of battery power is precious.
