Multimedia application software company Yorba have announced the release of a new version of soon-to-be-default Ubuntu photo manager app Shotwell.

This release sees Shotwell gain long-requested support for working with both RAW & PNG images, the addition of a new preferences dialog and the ability to open photo in an external editor from within Shotwell itself.

Photo zoom, auto-import of photo tages in XMP and IPTC metadata and a photo trash can round out the notable new features.

The release can be found in Yorba’s PPA @ https://launchpad.net/~yorba/+archive/ppa and contains binaries for both Lucid & Maverick.
