Confirming the long standing (general) release date, Google has announced that Chrome OS will come this fall. For those of you unfamiliar with Chrome OS, it’s a new operating system designed for lightweight devices like netbooks, with an emphasis on cloud computing. It’s being built with the help of Canonical, as part of a larger effort to bring Linux to the general computing public.
