New Default Wallpaper
The New Default Wallpaper in Trusty Tahr

What with a new default being unveiled, and eleven community contributions being selected, it feels a bit like all we’ve spoken about this week are wallpapers.

Now, we’re not one to buck an emerging trend, so we’re back with another article on the topic.

The default wallpaper for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is in the process of being uploaded to the archive. That means that those of you running 13.10 don’t have to wait until April to display the drape on your desktop — you can grab it right now.

The full 2560 × 1600 hi-res image clocks in at over 2MB and can be downloaded from this link (right click > save as).

Since we haven’t formally canvassed your opinion on the new Suru design yet: do you think it’s an improvement over the pattern-free ‘Purple Salad’ designs of the last eight releases?
