Old Ubuntu Wallpapers - KarmicFollowing Xubuntu and Ubuntu GNOME, it’s now Ubuntu’s turn to seek out a new set of community sourced backgrounds.

But this time around things are going to be a little different.

Iain Farrell, the contest organiser, suggests that this cycle all submissions should follow a specific ‘theme or common thread’. The result, he says, will be a set of wallpapers that ‘feel like they work together‘.

‘submissions should follow a specific theme or share a common thread’

Prior competitions have always been open to all types of wallpapers and illustrations. These have ranged from the predicable, if idyllic, close-ups of plants and leaves, to less conventional choices like speakers, cogs, frogs, and even shoes.

The choice of creative guide for the contest will be decided at a public IRC meeting on February 7 at 19:30 GMT.  A full brief outlining the requirements that entries need to adhere to will be published a few days later.

The final deadline is tentatively schedule for March 5th.
