Computing company System76 have begun shipping laptops pre-loaded with Ubuntu 12.04.
The ‘Precise’ release is provided out-of-the-box on two models – the 14.1″ Lemur Ultra and the 15.6″ Pangolin Performance.
Both sport the latest release along with the option to upgrade the CPU to Intel’s 3rd Generation Core i7-3610QM, which promises users better graphics and system performance, as well as improved power consumption.
Base features also include 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 500GB HDD, and HD capable graphics.
“With this announcement, Ubuntu users, just as Windows users, have zero day access to the latest hardware technology pre-loaded with their favorite OS,” System76 CEO Carl Richell said.
The laptopos start at $689 and begin shipping today.
