One of the internets more popular news sites - The Huffington Post - recently ran a feature on the 'Ten best Jobs in the US'. Their list included a number of technology-orientated roles including 'Computer Systems' and 'Software Engineer' - the former of the former of which shows Ubuntu in the role.

The new application menus introduced to the GNOME Shell desktop are now supported in Ubuntu. Following the release of GNOME 3.4 last month, a wider number of GNOME applications have begun to make use of the one-button 'app menus'.

Unity 5.10 Adds New App Install Animation, Minor Tweaks

Over the weekend Unity 5.10, the last major update to the Unity interface before the release of Ubuntu 12.04, landed in Precise. Primarily a bug-fix and stability update, Unity 5.10 brought with it a couple of notable 'new' things - including the final version of the 'Application Installation Animation'. This, developers hope, will assist new users in quickly locating apps installed through the Ubuntu Software Centre.

Ubuntu Phone OS Takes A Step Closer?

A recent job posting from Canonical appears to show that the company is serious about its intentions to enter the mobile OS market. In a vacancy titled 'Business Development Manager (Ubuntu Phone OS)', the company are calling for "a business development lead to engage and develop strong relationships with industry partners in the run up to the launch of Ubuntu as a smartphone operating system," so as to, they say, "establish a commercial ecosystem around Ubuntu as a smartphone OS."

Send to Ubuntu One Button – Neat, but Needed?

A web-based 'Send to Ubuntu One' button has been unveiled by the Ubuntu One team. The feature, which is still in development, allows you to insert a button on to your website that readers can click on to instantly deliver content to their Ubuntu One accounts.

Calligra App Suite Goes Stable, Impresses

The Calligra suite of applications hit the 'stable' milestone today, marking the software's first release. The Qt-based application stack offer a wide range of apps; everything from a fully-featured word processor and spreadsheet app to a comprehensive digital drawing programme are included in Calligra.
