[NSFW] Adult Lens and Porn Scope Ready for Testing

One of the greatest things about open source is that it allows anyone with an itch to scratch the chance to the scratch it – and Ubuntu provides a range of new and exciting technologies for doing this.

Scopes (search sources) and Lenses (which present search results) are two such examples. In unison they make the searching and viewing of all kinds of information super easy and super good looking.

‘Grown up stuff’

One type of online data people like to search - regardless of whether it offends you or not – is adult material so it wasn’t going to take long before someone created a Lens and Scope set designed for this purpose.

And so was born the following ‘Adult Lens and Scope’ set – the work of Lens-legend David Callé – which lets you search, filter and watch adult videos directly from the Ubuntu desktop.

Remember: The lens and scope are entirely optional installs and do not come with Ubuntu by default; you are free to NOT install this.

The lens is accessible by clicking on the ‘X’ icon in the bottom row of icons in the Dash.

You can enter search terms to find specific videos and/or use the variety of filters to help narrow down your searches or interests. Filters include orientation specific filters for ‘Gay’ and ‘Lesbian’ videos, and as specific interest categories such as ‘Amateur’, ‘Toys’ and ‘webcam’.

Clicking on a video thumbnail will open up the video in Totem or, if you have it installed, VLC. All videos are played flash-free and without ads. The streaming quality is more than acceptable in both players, but stability-wise favours VLC.

Installing

The lens and scope are available to install from a dedicated ‘Adult’ PPA.

It should go without saying that in-order to use the lens you must be of legal age within your country or province.
