A video advert for Ubuntu has been added to the YouTube channel of Portugal’s most well known electronics retailer Worten.
Worten, who have 130 stores across Portugal, are self-described ‘specialists in household appliances and consumer electronics’.
The advert is to promote the Ubuntu-installed ASUS 1215P netbook, which the store is selling online for the ‘promo’ price of €279,00.
Reader David Gomes informs us that amongst the Portuguese text are the selling points “Free of virus”, and “Compatible with Microsoft™ Office”.
The 1215P
The Worten website specifications for the 121.” 1215P notes a dual-core Atom 1.66Ghz processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB HDD, and a claimed battery life of 8 hours.
The Portugese launch of the ASUS 1215P is the latest retail outing for Ubuntu.
Last month Canonical partnered with computer manufacturer Dell to launch an Ubuntu-powered Dell netbook in 200 Chinese Dell stores; and prior to that Vodacom’s Ubuntu-powered “web-book” was made available in some 1,000 stores across South Africa.
