The latest release of Window management applet ‘DockBarX’ has been released, adding in media player control for all music players that use MPRIS2 (I.e. any that show up in the Ubuntu Sound Menu).
The feature represents another fantastic addition to an otherwise over-looked window management solution. DockBarX might not have the visual bling of Docky or Cairo Dock but it comes with many features they have and many they don’t.
Also shipping in this release are DockManager Helpers, likely to be familiar to anyone who has used Docky. Enable a helper for an application in Dock Manager, right click and get enhanced options.
DockBarX can, as always, be installed from its own PPA.
Open a terminal and enter the following two lines separately, inputting your password where prompted.
- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dockbar-main/ppa
- sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install dockbarx dockbarx-themes-extra
Add to your chosen GNOME-Panel by right clicking > add to panel > DockBarX. Preferences can be accessed by right clicking on DockBarX itself.
