It’s easy to get bored staring at the same desktop background day in and day out yet even easier to get bored  hunting down new interesting wallpapers to spice things up with.

Reader Christian S. sends word of an automated wallpaper script he’s written that can help to alleviate chronic cases of the background blues: –

“[I’ve written a] python script which gets the image of the day from NASA, writes the summary on the image and sets it as the desktop background in Gnome. It can be added to the startup scripts to do this daily.”

Maybe i’m lazy but that sounds like a winner to me. Script can be found @ gist.github.com/835062
