Ever wanted to try the sexy Wingpanel but were scared of building from source? A noble soul by the name of Taylor “Ripps” LeMasurier-Wren has created a PPA for us to use.
Many of you might remember wingpanel from our previous articles on it. Unfortunately there was no other option of installing it other than building from source, until now that is.
Bear in mind that this PPA isn’t “official” official and Wingpanel is still, development wise, in its infancy. With that in mind here are the needed commands to be run in a Terminal: –
- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ripps818/wingpanel && sudo apt-get update
- sudo apt-get install wingpanel
Once fully installed run by pressing ALT+F2 and entering ‘wingpanel’. Don’t forget to move your top gnome panel so that you can access it!
