If you’ve found that one or two applications are missing menu bars (unintentionally) in Maverick – here’s a quick fix.
Filezilla and Audacity are but two of the applications whose menus don’t show in Ubuntu 10.10. Jonathan Z. sent in a the temporary fix for this:
“If you set the environment variable UBUNTU_MENUPROXY to 0 ($ export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0), and run an afflicted application without closing the Terminal, you will see that the error is resolved.”
The fix does, indeed, work when I tried it. Just open a terminal and run
export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0
Followed by the application command you’re missing the menu of. In the examples below it’ Filezilla.
