With Google gearing up to launch the Chrome Web Store December 7th now is the perfect time to get a sneak preview of how webapps are going to look in Chrome.

Append the following flag to the end of your Google Chrome launcher . This flag works on Chrome version 8 and upwards.

--enable-default-apps

To add a webapp shortcut – for example to Gmail – hover over the webapp icon until the ‘spanner’ icon shows in the top right hand corner.

Click it and select ‘create shortcut’. The following window will appear:

‘Desktop’ is self-explanatory and selection ‘Applications Menu’ places the shortcut in the ‘Internet’ sub-menu, like so: –
