If you’re one of the many people who use Tomboy notes to keep your life organized and under control, and you also have an Android phone to boot, you may enjoy Tomdroid – a free app available in the Android Market which syncs and displays your notes on your phone using Ubuntu One or Tomboy’s Web Sync service.
The app is read only for now, but I believe the developer is working on integrating editing ability – which will be super useful.
Tomdroid
I gave Tomdroid a shot today and I can confirm it does what it says on the tin – all you need to do is follow these simple steps and you’ll be up and running.
- Make sure you’ve got Ubuntu One and Tomboy installed on your computer
- Go to the Synchronization tab in Tomboy’s preferences and enable it with Ubuntu One.
- On your phone, hit up the Market and search for ‘Tomdroid’ and install the app.
- Before hitting the sync button (which appears to crash the app) you’ll want to press the Menu key and set up your account.
- Now hit sync, and presuming everything is set up on both ends, your notes should appear
Hopefully the developer will add support for editing of notes soon, which means that you’ll not only be able to remember to buy that Paprika, but also to check it off when you have.
