    Great news!
But I am not a QT guy I am loyal to GTK+ :D

It’s silly to pledge allegiances to programming toolkits unless you’ve got real coding experience with both and have technical greivances.

I’ve programmed and respect both although I prefer Qt.

Otherwise, you’re complaining about a few MBs of data installed that a whole bucketload of software will share if you choose to use them.

Yay! =D The best just got better =)

How did you get QT look exactly like GTK?
I installed that QT control program, but when I tried to change settings, it didn’t have much effect.
Currently, my wine apps look even better than QT. I would really like to have some tips for QT ;-)

I haven’t actually done anything it just ‘looks’ like that. By comparison Blogilo (desktop blog writer) looks rubbish and that is also Qt4… so.. no idea!

There is a way to make qt4 and kde apps feel at home in gnome. Install the kde system-settings package, and change the appearence from oxygen to GTK. You can also set the fonts from there!

Uh, I guess you mean the package “systemsettings”, without the “-”
That’s indeed the way to adjust the look of Qt-programs :)

You need to install qt4-qtconfig for qt4-only apps.
KDEnlive is also a KDE app, you need to install systemsettings and change the theme from there.

    • Lunarcloud

Ubuntu needs to be more professional and set KDE apps to use the GTK+ theme on GNOME.

It’s going to be a showdown between kdenlive and openshot. Hopefully this fixes the random crashing while applying effects (*reads bugfixes*).

  • Lunarcloud

One of the best video editors I’ve ever used. Now if they would only add the ability to reverse a clip, it’d be perfect.

    • daas88

Openshot is getting close, and I have a lot of faith in VLMC, which is still alpha (video editor from VLC authors).
But until now is the best video editor I have used.

  • dboy

sory im new… can this video editor be used with any ubuntu installation? im not sure how all this works but i think my deskyop uses gnome? does that mean this can only be used in a kde desktop enviroment?

Yes, Ubuntu uses gnome, but you can certainly use kdenlive in Ubuntu (the same goes for any KDE apps). All you need is the required KDE libraries, which will automatically be installed if you install kdenlive through the Software Centre or Synpatic or whichever.

    • zekopeko

You can use any KDE program in GNOME. The reverse also applies.

How do you get it to look all gnome like and not kde?

  • http://www.google.com/profiles/suprman2020 Solomon

Does this install any extraneous KDE packages?

    • Lunarcloud

No, only the KDE packages it needs.

    Hi,

I would like to advertise the new PPA that hosts my stable packages (better naming) :

    ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release

The old one will be erased soon.

    Sunab.

    • Sunab

And by the way, for people living on the bleeding edge I have another PPA for kdenlive svn (weekly build), to report even more bugs :

      ppa:sunab/kdenlive-svn

It is empty at this moment, will be in action soon.

On Windows I used Sony Acid and Vegas for editing, and unlike most Sony software they’re pretty easy to use and quite intuitive. Kdenlive has a similar interface that’s equally easy to use, if not more so–and while i’m not normally a big fan of the KDE apps, I have the KDE libraries living on my gadget mainly because of Kdenlive. This update makes me a happy panda indeed! IMHO, for sheer input/output support and efficiency, Kdenlive is top-notch, and resides in the upper echelon of free software. (Speaking of matters of opinon: OpenShot is nice, but I find the interface too distracting with all those big, glossy bits.)

This new update is awesome. I can’t wait to push it through its paces.

Does kdenlive run better in KDE than it does in Gnome?
