GNOME Activity Journal goes on steroids

The boys on the Activity Journal team managed to boost the performance up to an average of 620%

It now navigates quicker and loads faster than ever. Funny enough that even the memory consumption went down.

Look at the table and compare the times for yourselves (each row is a the time in seconds to load and draw a day in the activity journal)

And here is a video to demo it…

You can read more about the details here…

And stay tuned for the next set of Zeitgeist related releases.

    Awesome!
Now I hope that they will pay more attention to kde compatibility since the latest journal for some reasons does not start in my kde…
(the previous editions did not have such a problem…)

I just installed the GNOME Activity Journal on my Ubuntu 10.04 64Bit (GNOME) and it will not start either.

I had to use a specific version of “zeitgeist” and not update it to make the activity journal work. But I’ve removed it so I don’t know which version it was.

I haven’t been able to run it for ages on mint 9. I use the sezen panel applet instead.

there doesn’t seem to be a sezen applet (that I can find), for the last stable release of docky, 2.06.

I prefer sezen to Activity Journal, AJ the UI involves many extra clicks to see thumbnail, and places too much emphasis on filename, when many items are more recognisable by thumbnail.

That’s awesome! My mom and siblings will love that!

BTW, everyone is using Faenza icons now! They’re everywhere.

I’m sure this is good news, but I think it would be helpful in articles like this to explain the purpose of the software you’re writing about.
