It might not be Ubuntu 10.10’s photo manager of choice but the F-Spot machine continues to chug along apace.

Version 0.7.2 of the photo management application has just been released, coming a mere four weeks after the last release, F-Spot 0.7.1.

In announcing the release Ruben Vermeersch mentions that ‘No big earth-shattering user-visible new features’ are in the release, rather ‘the focus has mostly been on fixing breakage and solidifying what we have.’ As a result over 50 bugs have been fixed,

He goes on to tease that ‘big and radical changes’ are planned for 0.9 cycle…

Installation
The latest release will be made available in the Official F-Spot PPA later today. To add the PPA open a terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal) and enter the following two lines separately: –

  • sudo add-apt-repository ppa:f-spot/f-spot-ppa
  • sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install f-spot
