I want a tabbed mode so that its netbook friendly.. should be better than the one in xchat ewww.

    • zekopeko

You can. The tabs can be on any edge of the window. You really should install the application and run it before commenting on it.

I am trying the best I can to make Smuxi everywhere available. Debian and Ubuntu enjoy priority :-)

Okey, enough contradiction! I am getting this :)

I find XChat a more “traditional” IRC client. I like it better.

xchat is not being developed anymore so no fun there.

I prefer xchat. More features, more control over them. Smuxi’s UI does feel better though. Also the last version of xchat was released on the 30rd of May (2010). Is that what you call not being developed anymore?

Twitter and IRC in same app? Maybe Twitter #hashtags can be used as channels. Interesting.

Twitter hashtags cannot be used as channels.

Irssi is the best IRC client.

  • haydoni

It works well I’m gonna play with it… one thing straight away is that the logo is low resolution (and not vector graphic), it looks terrible in docky (at icon size 60)!!

    • haydoni

I take it back, it is an SVG… just not a very good one!

      • haydoni

I take it back… no idea why it looks crap in docky!

Looks fine in my Docky. I remember an issue that that docky will pickup the icon not from the desktop file but from the window icon or something for the first start for some reason.

it’s no xchat, that’s for sure (talking feature/customizable wise)

    Why Mono when there’s Python?!?!

Mono is an Evil! Pidgin is better! Why I have to use IRC-client only when I can get multi-protocol decision like Pidgin?

Because for most irc uses, pidgin sucks.
