RedShift mono tray icon

RedShift may be saving your eyes and syncing your sleep patterns but it sure as hell isn't making your Ubuntu desktop look all pretty and integrated with its colourful giant tray icon.

Step forward norbs who has created an ace mono icon replacement for RedShift. Norbs didn't just take the original light bulb icon an de-saturate it, oh no, he created an entirely new €“ and dare I say much more awesome €“ icon: -

It has a bit of 'eye of Horus' about it, non? Download & install instructions @ link

      yeah that looks way better. i don’t really see the appeal of the ‘eye’ icon.

    I’m using it since you posted it on OMG!Ubuntu! (10 days) and it really worked. I’ve had extremely problems with my sleep schedule but with the help of meditation, redshift and some other techniques i go to bed at 8pm and wake up at 6am. That’s a huge step forward in life for me.

    Thanks, redshift developer and also thanks, d0od! I slumbered away my first interview for a job (yes, really), but got a second chance and now i made it. ;)

      I can’t REALLY say for sure, but I feel redshift has REALLY helped me.
      I have been battling insomnia for a while now, but for the last 8 months I haven’t gotten to bed before 2am (and that is EARLY, 4am is the norm) and since I have been using redshift on my computers I have been increasingly going to bed earlier. Lastnight I was asleep by MIDNIGHT! I couldn’t believe it.
      Furthermore, redshift is pretty cool in a dualscreen setup. I have a desktop in my living room for a home theatre that has a CRT and SVideo to TV. I have set redshift to only work on the CRT so the TV is not affected. Pretty sweet.

    Isn’t that beautiful how our brain is set to recognize eyes, noses etc?
    The icon can be a cave opening, or my favorite the sun going down behind a hill in my mind’s eye (so I can see through the hill). Any other suggestions? :D
    But no! Our minds tell us that a dot with a curved line above it has to be an eye.

    OT, is there any good mono wireless icons out there ? On my netbook, the default wireless icon looks pretty rough. Sorry, i have GUI OCD and need perfection !
