A few days ago I was asked by a reader to recommend a ‘system info’ tool. I, foolishly, assumed everyone already knew about ‘Hardinfo‘ ” an awesome system hardware profiler and benchmarking application – but it seems not, so here is a quick rundown on one of the best system tools for Ubuntu.

| Hardinfo main window |
”HardInfo can gather information about your system’s hardware and operating system, perform benchmarks, and generate printable reports either in HTML or in plain text formats. “

| Benchmarking options in Hardinfo |
The benchmark tools are what make Hardinfo different from other general system stat apps and compare your CPU performance to other well-known processors/speeds ” a mildly interesting way to waste a few minutes.
Other than that there isn’t a lot to say because it simply does what it says on the tin. It provides a wide range of categories and information and if you’re looking for a system profiler you can stop: this is it.![]()
