Want to use the Ubuntu Yahoo! Start Page? You still can!

Earlier on this year Ubuntu made Yahoo! search the default in Ubuntu Firefox. This was short-lived and a switch back to Google soon occurred.

Yahoo!-ites who would rather use the official Ubuntu start page, but with Yahoo!, still can!image

Check it out @ http://start.ubuntu.com/10.04/Yahoo/ €“ and if you like Yahoo! why not set it as your home page?

(No, http://start.ubuntu.com/10.04/bing/ doesn't work :P )

Thanks to mehd36

Actually if you have about:home as your homepage, you will get Yahoo! start page if you have Yahoo! as search in the search box, if you have Google then you will get a Google start page. Before the switch back to Google if had anything other than Google or Yahoo! you be default to Yahoo! start page now you can nice error, so if you have Wikipedia then you get a error saying there is not Wikipedia start page. :)

Maybe I will use it. As much as I love Google Products, they have become a bit cocky lately – a good dose ‘of maybe I’ll use something else’ wouldn’t hurt now would it ?

Oh sorry guys – that was just a fancy pants effect to make the image look nice in the post.

Ha! Oh. Perhaps add a border around the image to make it look nice? That orange or purple would be a good choice. :)

I am glad I can still use this homepage because I Still use Yahoo! as my default search engine. Every time I download Firefox the first thing I change is the search engine to Yahoo!.

The reason for making Yahoo the default was so Canonical would earn a few cents per search. Does this still happen if we use -this- start page? If not, I wouldn’t use Yahoo at gun-point..
