Tomboy, Battery icons updated

A new tomboy icon matching the rest of the new style panel icons in Lucid has graced the Ubuntu update tubes with its presence. Also checking in is a larger battery style icon.

I wonder if a dropbox icon will be released officialy

From what I’ve read on the Dropbox website and OMG! Ubuntu, the icon is built into Dropbox, and has to be replaced internally. Sadly, the Dropbox devs don’t seem to be giving custom icons any priority. Dropbox and Typing Monitor are the *only* icons that don’t match the Humanity style for me.

i was just googling for those icons! maybe a deb for all the icons will be great idea?…

I’d like to see the bluetooth icon spacing on the side get smaller, seems to take up too much space. Nice work on the Tomboy icon fits nicely

You have to do something to replace the icon of Tomboy? I have the same yellow icon after upgrading today. Thanks

try rebooting. mine just showed up sometime yesterday afternoon, and then the battery showed up a few hours later.

It still doesn’t work for me. I have the icons, but the panel applet is using the yellow one. With update bring this change? I have tomboy ver 1.2.0-0ubuntu1.
        Thanks

I don’t think its Tomboy that needs an update, its a patch within lucid. Is your whole system up to date? What Icons are you using currently?

          • Nicolás Abel Carbone

Thanks for your answer. I think my system is up to date. I am using the Ambiance theme, with the default icons. Do you know wich package bring the updated icon?

very strange. I just tried all the icon sets i have, everyone has the updated tomboy icon. very strange indeed. I’d say just update one more time to be sure, and if that doesn’t fix it, perhaps file a bug report.

Ok, I think it was my fault. I was adding an applet to the panel, not opening Tomboy. When I open Tomboy, the new icon appears. But when I add the Tomboy applet to the panel, it appears yellow. I don’t know if this is intentional, but I think that the new icon should appear in both cases.
By the way, is there a way to autostart Tomboy at login without using the panel applet?

hm. strangely enough, i can’t even add a tomboy applet. it gives me an error.

i’ve got mine to auto start via adding an entry to startup applications, which wouldn’t require the panel applet, just the systray icon.

Are there any documented plans of making Ubuntu 10.04 a Mac OS X clone? Almost all the icons are exact copy of Mac icons with very little or even no change in some.

      shhhh…its a secret
nah, they are just looking for panel and minimal transparency based design concepts and OSX trumps anything out there in this aspect (i think 7 is just a S*** load of transparency thrown all around)
mono icons look awesome no matter what!

The Tomboy icon had been there for quite a while actually :) Tomboy just needed a patch to use the “tomboy-panel” icon for the panel app instead of the application icon named “tomboy”.

This was my first ever patch to the Gnome project ;) YAY!!

now just fix the checkgmail icon :(

Or build it into the indicator applet that shows the chat, gwibber and mail icons so it can access gmail, instead of evolution.

      • Anonymous

yeah, the indicator applet should be more customizable

      • Anonymous

Yeah! that would be nice. Think i saw a mockup of that somewhere.

i think they want to, eventually.

I have this setup. I use gmail-notifier.py linking to a gmail prism app. Thus, when I get new mail, I get the green icon lighting up, and when I click it opens gmail. It is even simpler if you don’t want the prism app, I think it is possible to get that up without any hacking whatsoever.

interesting. are you using gmail as your preferred mail reader?

is there a way to have tomboy load on startup without all my notes popping up too?

I think Small battery icon was better.

Somehow the monochrome icon feels a bit dark and clunky. Perhaps doing the notepad as an outline instead would make it feel lighter?

Now we will see the colored icons even more strikingly. Is there a possibility to add a recolored Skype icon?
I searched through the whole system, but it seems to be hidden in a dll or something

skype and dropbox both are extremely common and are both lacing in customizable sys-tray. its super annoying.

  • pieter

What did you do to get such a nice clock? :)
