    • http://cldx.blogspot.com/ Joern Konopka

What do you mean “review”. Do yaou mean for him to do an article on it. You can contact hime via this link [http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2000/10/contact.html].

      • Anonymous

        I have but haven’t gotten a reply, a few times actually :/

        • http://cldx.blogspot.com/ Joern Konopka

Hes not really the replying type, i can tell. He just cannot put a Reply to any little snippet people are sending i guess, which is pretty understandable..

          • http://omgubuntu.co.uk/ d0od

I do try to reply to most things but… there are some really weird and/or pointless stuff that gets sent to me that is just not worth the time replying to.

30% of the daily ‘tips’ i get sent concern iPhone apps. fact.

          • Anonymous

84.3% of all statistics are made up on the spot :P

        • http://omgubuntu.co.uk/ d0od

Whoops – I’ve already written a post on it but it’s on “schedule” to go out at the weekend. (weekends tend to be the ‘slower news’ days so it helps to keep some interesting and less time-dependent content over for then.

I do really appreciate you contacting me – and everyone who does – i do, perhaps not surprisingly, get quite a bit of mail so i tend to read, write the post and then reply. in this case it’s all-but written and ur e-mail is sat with a ‘to reply’ label on it in GMail.

          • Anonymous

You should make a generic email address like contact@omgubuntu.co.uk and then have it forward to both you and I, then I can help trawl through all the emails :)

          • http://omgubuntu.co.uk/ d0od

            but that costs 13p a year :p

          • Anonymous

You’re awake! But it’s MORNING! Skype, in about half an hour. That’s not a
            question!

            Benjamin

          • http://omgubuntu.co.uk/ d0od

Ack! Dude I have to run in town for a bit. I’ll get my sprint on ;)

          • Anonymous

In that case I’ll watch a movie first so take your time! Ping me on Google
            talk when you’re back :)

            Benjamin

          • Anonymous

Ah ok, gotcha, i figured i’d be able to get contact with you faster through here than email :P either way thanks a bunch! I was planning on starting a union but be rest assured the union members are subsided :P

    I can’t wait!!!!!!

Will there be reader mail? Questions by us, answered by you guys.

If so, I want to know when we can expect that annoying floating top bar to be removed (that arbitrary one that says to “Share on Facebook, Twitter, email” ;)

    • Anonymous

Reader mail sounds good! We can totally do that.

Yeah, I don’t think Joey is gonna remove the top bar anytime soon, sorry =P

      • Anonymous

        DO NOT WANT!

        Less is more, people! :)

      • Anonymous

to be honest i haven’t used that bar once since it came out :/ if anything make the bar a side bar with smaller space… being on the top interferes with my web surfing efficiency!!

        • http://omgubuntu.co.uk/ d0od

It’s not just an annoying floating bar. It adds in-site contextual browsing. >_<

On a related note, whilst you may not use it around 65% of users do ;)

          • Anonymous

            even my girlfriend agrees! :P
well isn’t there a way to make it less obstructive? o.o

          • Calvin

d00d, it’s obnoxious, and that’s an understatement. My computers slow down to a crawl thanks to that bar, and a bit of Disqus, which is frankly a bad commenting system. Adblock apture, that does it.

          • https://launchpad.net/~happyhouse19 Matt

Great tip – just blocked it in AdBlock too. Thanks :o)

          • Anonymous

Actually, I hardly notice it… either side blends in with the site background because it’s the same shade of purple and the rest of it just looks like a natural border on the top of the page.

          • http://ubunturoot.com JasonCook599

It sounds like most people don’t like it. You should run a poll finding out likes it and who don’t like it. I also think that it is a little redundant as you already have a search bar at the top and buttons to share using other sites. To keep it consistent you should either remove the bar or remove the buttons.

          • Anonymous

I find that other websites that use this kind of bar (facebook) have it on the bottom and its less intrusive, they even made it very tiny and has the ability to “hide”. Its not that the bar is that bad, its just too big and being on the top seems to be more obtrusive than other websites using it on the bottom

          • http://omgubuntu.co.uk/ d0od

Yeah we don’t need two search bars and nor do we need so many tweet/share buttons.

          • Anonymous

I do like the search bar thats in the “intruding” bar, i love the search resiults and format, though i don’t like so much the built in one inside the website :o

      • http://cldx.blogspot.com/ Joern Konopka

Dont forget “Koala sez!”,our all time Favorite Closet Mac User MUST be in the Podcast! You know, karmic, meditating, spreading wisdom…

  • Anonymous

We’ve decided to delay it till Tuesday, 27th April due to the fact we’re unorganized and want to make a quality first episode instead of rushing into one to put out this next week.

    • http://cldx.blogspot.com/ Joern Konopka

DELAY!? I protest that! You announced now you better deliver!
jk…make it a Classic please…hmm i was just thinking about Enhanced Podcast, but it seems its still an Apple-only Thing(!?), too bad, would be nice to have Rhythmbox show some Links and Images while listening, especially since its a Blog about an OS and Software….well, you can’t always get what you want…

You should maybe announce the Delay as a standalone Post or update this Post and push it to the Top, otherwise next Tuesday all Comments Sections will be like “Wheres the Podcast you Promised?”

    • http://ubunturoot.com JasonCook599

I’m glad that it is being delayed. I think that it would be better to have a great first episode, rather than a terrible unprepared one.

      • Anonymous

        =)

    • http://wakoopa.com/yo2boy yo2boy

It’s the 28th now. I see no podcast.

      • http://omgubuntu.co.uk/ d0od

I’m to blame for this delay: we had technical difficulties when we recorded it which, at the time, seemed fixable-ish – at least to get a dummy run out there.

It’s coming though. And not at all timed to coincide with Ubuntu 10.04′s released (release days are when this blog gets 300x it’s normal daily hits. )

Looking forward to the podcast, should be good.
